Looking to revive your limp strands for a grand night out? Or do you want to avoid the frequent bad hair days you seem to be experiencing? Well, you’ve come to the right place for the best hair care advice and guess what? You won’t be needing any fancy mousse products to get the results.
Wet hair, don’t care:
The journey to beautiful hair starts with you washing your hair! Be sure to use a lightweight shampoo so your locks won’t be weighed down. Some ingredients you can look out for in your shampoo to really volumize your locks would be sea salt, rosemary and lemongrass. I’ve been using Lush’s “Big”, one of their bestselling products which has sea salt in it, when I need an extra oomph once in awhile. However, while pumping up the volume, this shampoo doesn’t strip your hair because it contains a seaweed infusion and extra virgin coconut oil to give your hair the nourishment it needs.
Similar to shampoo, be careful not to use a conditioner that’s too heavy on your hair. So avoid any products that have shea butter or argan oil in it as this typically tends to weigh down your hair a little more. I’ve used Avalon Organics’ Volumizing Rosemary Conditioner which gives your hair a lovely fresh smell after every shower.
Dry it out:
Use a blow dryer to give your hair some extra volume after your shower! First, use a soft towel to remove the initial moisture with a towel. Following that, give your hair a general dry with the hair dryer so it’ll remove more of the water before you can begin brushing out your hair. When the excess water is removed and your hair is somewhat dry, use a round brush to slowly brush and tease out your hair while using the blow dryer to set in a slight curl as well as volume. While drying your hair, be sure to make sure that the heat isn’t too high as this can damage your hair and also cause frizzing.
Another important thing to take note of is to not brush your hair while it’s too wet, because this is when your hair is at it’s weakest. Brushing it at this point of time could either cause your strands to break or frizz.
Style it up:
Volumising your hair is the first step, but maintaining it through the day is one of the harder parts. Keep your hair volumized and styled up with some dry shampoo, or in a pinch, baby powder. By sprinkling some on your roots, it would absorb the oil and would prevent your roots from being weighed down, hence keeping the volume there.
I hope you’ve all enjoyed these tips to better hair, and I hope it’s increased your volume of knowledge on this subject!
